ex-Graduate Student (PhD)
Chemical Engineering

B.Sc. (Ch.E.); 2013 - Tehran University (Iran)
Ph.D. (Ch.E.); 2018 - Worcester Polytechnic Institute

After taking his B.Sc. degree in the Chemical Engineering - Process Design program at Tehran University in 2013, Behnam joined WPI to pursue a PhD in the Heat and Mass Transfer group. Since then he hs worked on developing CFD integrated multiscale methods for improved reaction engineering models, particularly, for partial oxidation reactions. In summer 2016, he was a visiting student in Prof. Raimund Horn's group at the Institute of Reaction Engineering, TUHH, Germany. There, he worked on high resolution spatial reactor profile measurements for methane partial oxidation on Rh to conduct experimental validation for the CFD model.

The picture shows Behnam in the Heat and Mass Transfer Lab.

After graduating from WPI, in summer 2018, Behnam joined Amgen Inc. (Cambridge MA/ Thousand Oaks CA) as a Postdoctoral Fellow and worked on leveraging Machine Learning methods to advance Commercial Formulation Development (also CFD!) within Process Development. Currently, he is Senior Scientist at Semma Therapeutics (Cambridge, MA) and also serves as Adjunct Teaching Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
